Will LoL 2v2v2v2 Arena Game Mode Be Permanent?

The new Arena Game Mode could Be Permanent, Riot claims.

Earlier in the year, Riot announced that they would be releasing the biggest summer event to date. They promised to bring us new cosmetics, champions, and a brand-new game mode. Now after months of waiting, the summer event is here, and it seems Riot have successfully delivered on their promises.

For the summer event, we are getting a brand new assassin champion Naafiri, a Darkin champion who prefers to hunt in packs. Then there’s the Soul Fighters skinline, a new skin line inspired by fighting games like Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat. And finally, the star of the show, the Arena mode.

The Arena mode, which was originally called the 2v2v2v2 mode, is a mashup of the League of Legends formula with a hint of Teamfight Tactics’s strategic elements. It features eight players in four teams of two and takes turns facing off against each other. Losing a round results in losing HP, and if your HP reaches zero, you are out. Between each round, you can either get a set amount of gold or a random augment for your champion. So, not every round feels the same, and there’s a ton of replay value.

The game mode is currently quite popular. Although it is currently only available on the PBE servers, there are a large number of players that are enjoying the mode. So, if it looks intriguing to you, you can try out the game mode on the PBE servers.

Will Arena Mode Be Permanent?

For every game mode Riot releases, there is the question, Will it be permanent? That’s what we are here to answer today.

In a recent Reddit post about the Arena balance changes, Riot Axes shared some new details about the state of the gamer mode. According to him, their main priority is to make the summer event successful as possible. So, balance is their biggest priority.

For the long-term future of the Arena mode, Riot’s main plan is to release an upgraded version of the Arena mode in the future. They also mentioned that if the current version of the game mode is successful enough, Riot will assign more staff to the mode and even make it permanent.

But the question still remains will it be permanent? It’s hard to tell before it gets shipped to the live servers. But judging by its massive popularity just in PBE alone, there is a high likelihood of it staying.
